We know applying anything to an uneven surface, especially chequered and diamond plates, can be a real challenge, so we have created a guide to explain the most efficient method.

Required Equipment:

  • Non-Slip Tape
  • IPA Cleaner
  • Tape Measure
  • Scissors
  • Rubber Mallet

Ensure you have all your equipment ready to hand so that you are good to go.

Step 1 – Use H3508 IPA to Clean the Application Area

Clean the area with IPA cleaner, extending the life of the anti-slip tape and preparing the surface for adhesive. H3508 IPA Surface cleaner ensures that dirt is removed. Missing this step would allow contaminants to impact the anti-slip tape’s adhesive negatively.

Step 2 – Measure the Application Surface for the Non-Slip Tape

Use your tape measure to find the surface’s length. You can lock your tape measure to keep that exact measurement.

Step 3 – Measure the Amount of Tape Required

Get your anti-slip tape and roll it out to the required length next to your tape measure to get the precise size. Be accurate, as you don’t want to waste material.

Step 4 – Cut the Tape to Required Length

Grab your scissors and cut the anti-slip tape to the length measured. Ensure a clean cut through the tape by applying force when cutting.

Step 5 – Peel off the Tape’s Backing Liner

The backing liner prevents dust from affecting the adhesive whilst in storage before its application. The liner also allows us to wrap the tape up into rolls for easy use. Peel off the safety tape’s adhesive backing liner once you are ready to apply it to the application area.

Step 6 – Align the Tape with the Application Surface

Alignment is critical to avoid repositioning, which would diminish the adhesive’s ability to stick. You don’t want air pockets or scrunching, particularly if you’re using it to map out various areas for 5S optimisation in your warehouse or factory.

Step 7 – Hammer Tape into Place with Rubber Mallet

The fun step! Finally, grab your rubber mallet and start hitting the non-slip tape down, applying pressure, ensuring all adhesive is stuck to the uneven surface. You now have your finished result!

What is Abrasive Anti-Slip Tape?

Heskins anti-slip Safety-Grip tape is an abrasive material that provides fantastic grip properties on slippery areas. People can be seriously injured from slips or falls in the workplace or at home. With this in mind, we designed our anti-slip tape range to be highly adaptable and suitable for any surface and location, improving safety in all circumstances.

What is Conformable Anti-Slip Tape?

Conformable tape is a versatile and effective adhesive tape in various industries and applications where conformability and flexibility are essential, such as upon chequered plates and durbar coverings.

Why Cover Chequered Plates in Anti-Slip Tape?

Covering chequered or diamond plates in anti-slip tape provides additional traction and reduces the risk of slips and falls. Safety tape delivers a high level of slip resistance, even in wet conditions, whereas metal plates alone would be slippery. The tape has no inherent memory, so it conforms to the durbar to create a textured surface that improves grip and reduces the likelihood of accidents.
